The problem with the internet is there is too much information.  Add to that the fact that so many of us are crippled by ADD, it is nearly impossible to focus on any one thing for more than 5 minutes…  Am I right?  I mean, what are you supposed to do if you want to do more?

How are we supposed to make money on the internet, make the mortgage payment, buy a boat, a new car, go on a vacation, or just live on a decent income?  Is it even possible any more?

What we need is a way to take advantage of this short attention span, constant channel changing, net-surfing and youtube mentality.  Instead of trying to change that mentality, why not take control of that power and use it to our advantage?

Making money online isn’t that hard, but there is a real problem:  Those internet ”Gurus” try to make it sound like it is so hard that you need a coach, you need to pay those big Gurus in order to succeed.  They try to talk in big words to confuse you, to make you think that making money online is so hard, that you need these extremely complex strategies in order to make your website successful.  You know why they do this?

They make it sound like making money online is so complicated because they want you to feel like you NEED their product.  They also want you to think that if you fail at using their product, it is your fault.  You’re just not smart enough.  You just didn’t understand the content.  Then you won’t ask for a refund.  It’s not the Guru’s fault that you don’t understand complex internet marketing strategies, right?

It’s a scam.  They make you feel like you are stupid.  They make it sound like you purchased such a quality product, that it couldn’t possibly be the fault of the guru. It was money well spent, right?

I’ve completed a good deal of Dell LCD Monitor Troubleshooting gigs in the past couple of weeks. Most of the problems were pretty common…

Some had what you call the ‘on-and-off’ LED light problem with blank screen. Also there were a couple of issues concerning LEDs with no light and no display on screen, yet operating voltage was present!

Weird huh?

Now, let me tell you some of the things I did to solve these problems. The first thing I did was placed my handy A4 size jumbo repair manual right on my repair desk.

The On-and-Off LCD Symptom

Alright now, let’s say you have a Dell brand LCD monitor with the on-and-off LED symptom, first thing you should do is check out the inverter board. This type of problem is often caused by defective capacitors as well as transistors.

Also, go over the high voltage transformer and see if there are any dry joints. If you do find dry joints, then putting on some fresh solder should do the trick.

The backlight part needs to be examined too. I’ve had a few cases where faulty backlights resulted in the LED lights coming on and off repeatedly and then the screen goes blank. Sometimes fixing the backlight alone would solve the problem.

The Strange Case of No LED/Display

Now, we go over one of the weirdest Dell LCD monitor troubleshooting cases I’ve ever faced…

In this case, the faulty LCD monitor had no LED light and display, however voltages were pulsating…

Many would think that the problem is caused by damaged power IC and swollen filter capacitors but in my experience, that wasn’t the case.

This rather peculiar condition was actually caused by the field effect transistor (FET)! So if you’re currently experiencing this problem, I recommend you perform a thorough inspection on the FET.

Most repairing problems can be solved pretty quickly if you have the right troubleshooting and testing tools at your disposal.

You’re going to need these tools: An analog meter with X10 K ohm range, a digital meter, flyback tester, a 35X magnifying glass (to read SMD codes, detect hairline cracks, etc), an oscilloscope, an blue ESR meter (extremely useful) and also a high voltage probe.

Condition 2: power shutdown

Upon removing the LCD monitor cover, carefully examine the components located in the primary section. Keep your eyes peeled on the multiple electrolytic capacitors.

If you see any swollen/bulging capacitors, simply remove and replace.You know, I’ve done many Samsung LCD monitor repair gigs and most problems were due to defective capacitors.

They can’ stand the heat. After a while they get swollen and busted so you got to replace them. Another component that you should check is the secondary output diode. When this thing gets shorted, you whole LCD goes off!

Condition 3: rainbow display

Okay, this problem can be caused by a couple of issues. The first is the cable linkup between the LCD panel and main board. So check the cable connection. If it’s loose, then that’s your problem right there! The second one is poor LCD panel.

If it’s the latter, your options are to change the entire LCD panel or you could try reflowing the board.
