Make Money Online Tips For Beginners – 3 HUGE Mistakes I Made

Spending Too Much Time “Learning”

When I first got into internet marketing I probably downloaded close to 200 hundred different reports and ebooks hoping to learn more about the whole make money online process. I read each report from start to finish and then proceeded to download more. This process went on for the first couple of years until I finally realized that just reading all of those reports won’t do me any good. Its about execution. Its about taking what I have learned and put it into action. I like to say I suffered from IIS or instant income syndrome. I was reading and reading just looking for that magic system that could make me money fast.

The problem was that I never found it. And you know why? Because there is no magic system that can make you money fast. When it comes to making money online it takes hard work. As the saying goes, you get out what you put in. I wasn’t putting very much in so I wasn’t getting very much out of it. But once I stopped just “learning” everything and started actually doing something, things changed quickly.

Spending Too Much Time In “Set Up Mode”

The second huge mistake I made was spending way to much time in set up mode. Set up mode is when you are in the process of setting everything up. That can be your blog, your website, your marketing campaigns etc. You see, I would spend hours doing keyword research and then do nothing with that research. I was just “setting” everything up but once again, not actually doing anything. Doing that cost me a lot of time and money. You can’t do that. Don’t take forever to set up your blog or website. Make it functional and then start sending traffic to it. As you learn more and your site starts to grow you can make changes. So don’t get stuck in set up mode like I did. If you start something get it done as quickly as you can.

Procrastinating

I love what Mike Litman says about procrastination. He says it is the thief of profit. And boy is that true. The more you procrastinate the longer it will take for you to make money online. Trust me, I am speaking from personal experience. I would put everything off until tomorrow. The problem was that tomorrow never came. And the longer I waited to complete a task, the bigger that task looked. Which in turn made me want to push it off even more. Procrastination will keep you broke. So don’t put off what needs to be done. Tackle each task as it comes up. That way you will never get behind and feel overwhelmed by all the work that need to be done.

The catch is that money is not free and that it will cost you your time. You will have to fill out surveys. You will be giving your opinion about products and product ideas. The forms are normally short, so you can start making money right away. Companies that pay through PayPal allow you to make money daily, so you don’t have to wait for a check to come in the mail.

While I will not propose that this is a career opportunity, it is something that you can do to bring extra money into your home to help with groceries, bills or whatever. If you would just like some extra money to spend on the weekends, then free paid surveys that are legitimate, can be a great way to add a little jingle to your pocket.

Beware of any paid survey companies that charge money or registration fees.

Lack of a Targeted Business Plan Causes Small Business Failure

Traditional thought about business plans is that you must have one to be a successful entrepreneur. However, there have been recent conversations by some business professionals that challenge this contention, instead recommending that entrepreneurs should spend their time running their businesses rather than creating plans. This exchange of ideas can only be a good thing, and the debate about the relevance of business plans will probably continue for some time.

Writing a small business plan is viewed as a burden by many entrepreneurs who see it as something that is done and then filed for future reference (actually, never to be seen again). Most of the business professionals who suggest that plans aren’t necessary probably fall into this group. However, people who support the need for plans most likely see them as part of a process for business growth and development-a tool to use in truly understanding the business’ mission, what needs to be accomplished, and how the business will meet targeted goals and objectives.

The decision to make or not make a plan may rest on how the term is defined. Business plans actually come in all shapes and sizes and meet diverse needs depending on if the entrepreneur just wants clarify about what needs to be done or if the goal is to attract financial institution or angel investor capital. Some entrepreneurs even use plans to create marketing campaigns or to attract stellar employees. All of the priorities listed here will play a critical role in how the term business plan is defined by individual entrepreneurs. Therefore, the idea of a rigid definition of what a plan is and what it does is not very practical.

The title of this article suggests that the lack of a business plan will spell doom for an entrepreneur. Why is this true, especially when many professionals in the business community don’t think they are necessary at all? Well, the business plan concept actually represents the belief that an entrepreneur must take a honest, analytic view of her business, its operations and marketing models, and financial stability to determine what needs to be done-both present and in the future-to be success and profitable. It’s hard to image this process occurring effectively if there isn’t a plan of some kind in place (and in writing) that can be read, reviewed, and changed as needed.

The debate over the usefulness of business plans to entrepreneurs may be more productive if the focus is shifted somewhat away from the idea of having or not having one to a focus on determining how the plan can be shaped to meet the specific conditions, situations, and priorities faced by each entrepreneur. This change in focus would certainly produce greater consensus among professionals that business plans are critical and not having one causes small business failure.
